Current Conditions: a large part of Campania Region is still experienced stable and hot weather conditions, due to the presence of a high-pressure area. In the next hours, no relevant variations of meteorological scenario are expected. It should be only highlighted the chance of isolated thunderstorms, during the afternoon, in the areas of Benevento and Avellino.
Weather Bulletin for July 04, 2019: in the coastal sectors (Salerno and Naples districts and Caserta plain), sunny meteorological conditions will prevail throughout the day, except for the development of isolated afternoon clouds. In the inland sectors (Avellino and Benevento areas), fair weather will prevail in the morning hours; from early afternoon, an increasing in cloudiness is expected: such clouds may produce brief and isolated thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail. In the areas just mentioned, an improvement in weather conditions is expected in the evening hours.
Hot weather is expected in all open-air competition venues. More specifically, in the early afternoon (from 01:00 to 04:00 PM) air temperature will range from 30 to 33°C (88 – 91°F) in the coastal areas of Naples, from 27 to 29°C (80 - 84°F) in Salerno city, from 34 to 36°C (95 – 98°F) in the Province of Caserta and from 31 to 33°C (88 – 91°F) and in the inland of Salerno (Nocera-Pagani-Cava de’ Tirreni). The air temperature in Benevento and Avellino cities will reach 36°C (97°F) and 33°C (91°F), respectively. It should be noted that, in Avellino and Benevento areas, the temperature might decrease of many degrees in few minutes in case of afternoon thunderstorms.
Winds will follow a breeze regime, blowing mainly from western in the coastal areas and in the Plain of Caserta; in such areas, during the afternoon, average wind speed will range between 10 and 25 km/h (6 – 15 mph). In Benevento and Avellino cities, light winds are expected, except in the afternoon hours, when an increase of wind speed may happened in case of thunderstorm.
In the afternoon hours, sea breeze will cause an increase of relative humidity percentage, which will be between 35 and 60% in the inland sectors (Provinces of Benevento and Avellino and Caserta plain) and between 65 and 80% in the coastal areas (districts of Naples and Salerno). In the areas of Benevento and Avellino, an increase of relative humidity may occur in the afternoon hours in case of rain showers. Calm or rippled sea is expected.
Special Warnings: in the early afternoon (from 01:00 to 05:00 PM), the combination between heat and relative humidity will increase the likelihood of heat disorders with prolonged exposure or strenuous activity to the level “Extreme Caution”. The latter means that sunstroke, muscle cramps and/or heat exhaustion are possible with prolonged exposure and/or physical activity.
It should be also highlighted the chance of heavy rain and/or isolated hailfall during the afternoon in the areas of Benevento and Avellino.

Situazione attuale: gran parte del territorio campano continua a beneficiare della protezione offerta da un campo di alta pressione, il quale rinnova condizioni di condizioni di bel tempo, associate ad una moderata calura diurna, su gran parte della Regione Campania. Nelle prossime ore, lo scenario meteorologico non subirà particolari variazioni. Si segnala soltanto la possibilità di locali piogge pomeridiane, anche a sfondo temporalesco, nelle aree interne.
Previsioni meteorologiche per il 04 Luglio 2019: sulla fascia costiera (Province di Napoli e Salerno) e sulla pianura casertana si prevedono condizioni di cielo sereno per l’intero arco della giornata, fatta salva la formazione di isolate nubi pomeridiane. Nell’avellinese e nel beneventano, in mattinata, prevarranno condizioni di tempo soleggiato; dalle ore centrali del giorno, invece, è atteso un incremento della copertura nuvolosa, associato a locali e brevi precipitazioni a carattere temporalesco. I fenomeni potranno essere accompagnati da grandinate e lasceranno spazio a schiarite nelle ore serali.
In tutte le sedi in cui si svolgeranno competizioni outdoor, è prevista una calura diurna di moderata intensità. In particolare, nelle prime ore del pomeriggio (dalle 13:00 alle 16:00) sono attese temperature variabili fra 30 e 33°C nel napoletano, fra 27 e 29°C nella città di Salerno, fra 34 e 36°C nel casertano e fra 31 e 33°C nell’agro-nocerino-sarnese. Il termometro, invece, nell’avellinese e nel beneventano raggiungerà picchi di 33 e di 36°C, rispettivamente; è opportuno evidenziare, tuttavia, che presso questi due siti potranno manifestarsi temporanee ma forti diminuzioni della temperatura in caso di fenomeni temporaleschi pomeridiani.
I venti, lungo le coste e nel casertano, si disporranno a prevalente regime di brezza e soffieranno, pertanto, dai quadranti occidentali, ad una velocità media variabile tra 10 e 25 km/h. Nell’area di Avellino e Benevento, invece, sono attesi venti di debole intensità; non sono da escludere, tuttavia, temporanei rinforzi pomeridiani.
Nelle prime ore del pomeriggio, la brezza di mare sarà causa di un incremento del tasso di umidità relativa, che oscillerà, lungo le coste, fra il 65 e l’80%. Nelle aree interne, invece, il tasso di umidità varierà generalmente fra il 35 ed il 60%; temporanei incrementi dell’umidità potranno verificarsi in caso di precipitazioni pomeridiane. Il moto ondoso si presenterà calmo o quasi calmo.
Segnalazioni per condizioni meteorologiche avverse: nelle prime ore del pomeriggio, la combinazione tra elevate temperature e tasso di umidità relativa inasprirà gli effetti della calura diurna. In caso di prolungata esposizione e di intensa attività fisica, saranno possibili colpi di calore e crampi muscolari. E’ opportuno, inoltre, segnalare la possibilità di pioggia forte e/o di fenomeni di grandine, nelle ore pomeridiane, nell’avellinese e nel beneventano.
